Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer Salary: £30,000 - £45,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join a progressive and environmentally focused building services consultancy. This role is ideal for someone with a few years of experience looking to expand their technical skills and take on more project responsibility within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
About the Role: You will be involved in the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems across a range of projects, working under the guidance of senior engineers while also taking ownership of certain project elements. Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the design of mechanical building services systems (HVAC, ventilation, heating, and cooling)
- Producing calculations, technical reports, specifications, and schedules
- Supporting thermal and energy modelling using industry software
- Preparing and reviewing technical drawings in collaboration with CAD/BIM teams
- Liaising with clients, contractors, and other design professionals
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and sustainable design principles
- Participating in site visits, surveys, and inspections during different project stages
This hybrid role allows a balance of office-based collaboration in Birmingham and flexible remote working.
What We’re Looking For:- Experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy or similar environment
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical services, and sustainability-focused design
- Familiarity with software such as Hevacomp, IES, or Revit
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams
- A proactive approach with a willingness to take on increasing responsibility
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field
- Working toward professional registration (IEng/CEng) is desirable
