Your Opportunity A skilled Mechanical Engineer is needed to join a growing design team in Cardiff. This role gives you the chance to broaden your technical expertise across a wide range of projects, play an active part in the development of the business, and collaborate closely with a supportive group of engineering professionals.
The Cardiff team has a strong and expanding presence throughout South Wales, contributing to projects reaching values of up to £200 million. Work spans tall buildings, student accommodation, colleges, schools, universities and blue-light facilities. You’ll have the opportunity to lead and support high-profile regional projects while also contributing to nationally significant schemes.
Role and Responsibilities You’ll be involved in the full lifecycle of mechanical building services design, including:
- Producing calculations, reports, performance assessments and detailed design solutions as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Using CAD, BIM (Revit) and other specialist software to deliver compliant, coordinated system designs
- Completing mechanical design calculations to demonstrate compliance with client requirements
- Undertaking site surveys, inspections, defect reviews and witness activities
- Reviewing construction details and providing technical commentary
- Working closely with structural engineers, architects, surveyors and contractors across internal and external teams
- Attending design meetings, project reviews and technical workshops
- Ensuring all building systems meet legislative, statutory and health and safety obligations
Experience and Skills Required- Experience delivering mechanical building services designs from concept to completion, including drawings, specifications and calculations in line with RIBA stages and BSRIA BG6
- A degree or higher education qualification (HNC/HND) in Building Services or a related discipline
- Revit experience is beneficial
- IES modelling experience is an advantage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Support can be provided towards professional registration (EngTech/IEng/CEng) through an accredited mentor programme
