Transport Planner (Graduate / Assistant Level)

Bristol

We're working with a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that's looking to recruit a Transport Planner to join its growing team.

This role would ideally suit someone with around 1–2 years' post-graduate experience in transport planning, although we're equally keen to hear from recent graduates who can demonstrate the right attitude, aptitude and enthusiasm to learn.

You'll be joining a collaborative transport planning team, working alongside an experienced Senior Transport Planner and Principal Transport Planner, while receiving mentoring and support from the Transport Partner. This is an excellent opportunity to build your technical skills, work on a varied portfolio of development-led projects and progress your career within a supportive environment.

The Role:

Working across a broad range of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, you'll assist in the preparation of transport planning reports and technical assessments while developing your understanding of the planning process and highway design.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting with the preparation of Transport Assessments and Transport Statements.
    • Supporting the production of Travel Plans.
    • Undertaking trip generation, parking analysis and transport data assessments.
    • Using software including LinSig, Junctions 9, AutoCAD and AutoTRACK.
    • Contributing to junction assessments and transport modelling.
    • Liaising with multidisciplinary design teams, clients and local authorities.
    • Supporting project delivery while developing your technical and commercial understanding.
About You:

Ideally you'll have:
  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
    • 1–2+ years' experience within a transport planning consultancy (although exceptional graduates will also be considered).
    • Some experience preparing transport planning reports or assisting with development-led projects.
    • Exposure to software such as LinSig, Junctions 9, AutoCAD or AutoTRACK would be advantageous.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn from experienced colleagues.
    • A proactive, client-focused approach and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
What's on Offer?
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
    • Company pension
    • Life insurance
    • Travel insurance
    • Health cash plan
    • Hybrid/flexible working
If you're looking for a role where you'll be supported, challenged and given the opportunity to develop your career in transport planning, we'd love to hear from you
