Brokerage Officer
Salary:Â ÂŁ26.96 umbrella
Location: Civic Centre, High Street, Uxbridge, Middlesex, UB8 1UW
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Brokerage Officer to join our team and play a key role in sourcing and coordinating high-quality, cost-effective care and support services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for arranging a range of care provisions, including home care packages, residential and nursing placements, respite care and emergency placements. You will work closely with frontline practitioners, senior managers and external care providers to ensure that services are sourced and arranged in line with identified needs and Care Plans.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in Adult Social Care who understands the complexities of care commissioning and brokerage and can work confidently in a fast-paced environment. Experience of using the LAS (Liquidlogic Adult Social Care) system is desirable.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Purchase Home Care hours in accordance with the stated needs identified and outlined within the Care Plan.
Purchase Residential and Nursing Care placements, including respite care, in accordance with assessed needs and Care Plans.
Ensure appropriate levels of care provision are available to support the Emergency Duty Team (EDT), including emergency beds and home care hours.
Ensure that block contracts are utilised effectively and to their optimum capacity.
Develop and maintain effective booking systems for:
Respite care
Permanent residential placements
Nursing placements
Home care packages
Other care and support services
Maintain an effective resource allocation and brokerage service, ensuring the provision of high-quality and cost-effective placements and support packages for vulnerable children and young people.
Work closely with frontline staff, senior managers and external providers to identify and secure appropriate care and support solutions.
Ensure placements and support packages meet the holistic needs of children and young people, taking account of education, health and social care requirements.
Manage a varied workload involving children and young people requiring both planned and short-notice residential placements and support packages with external providers.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal colleagues and external care providers.
Negotiate and source appropriate care packages, ensuring value for money while maintaining high standards of care and safeguarding.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to placements, packages of care, purchasing and provider arrangements.
Contribute to the development of transformational services within the Brokerage Team, supporting improvements in processes, systems and service delivery.
Ensure that all brokerage activity is undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, solutions-focused and able to manage competing priorities in a busy brokerage environment.
You will ideally have:
Experience working within Adult Social Care, care brokerage, commissioning, placements or a related social care environment.
Good knowledge and understanding of care and support services, including home care, residential and nursing care.
Experience of sourcing and arranging care packages and placements.
An understanding of resource allocation, purchasing and value for money within social care.
Experience of working with external care providers and negotiating appropriate care and support arrangements.
The ability to manage a varied workload, including urgent and short-notice placement requests.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with social workers, senior managers, providers and other professionals.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
Good IT and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate records and using relevant databases and systems.
Experience of using the LAS (Liquidlogic Adult Social Care) system is desirable.
An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of ensuring that care and support arrangements meet the individual needs of vulnerable people.
