The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electromechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced heavy industrial manufacturing site. This is a hands-on, varied role where you will play a key part in ensuring plant reliability, maximising uptime, and supporting continuous improvement across a complex production environment.

You’ll work across a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems, helping to keep critical production equipment running safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Be Doing
Engineering & Maintenance
  • Diagnose, fault-find, and repair a wide range of industrial equipment including furnaces, conveyors, casting machines, crushers, mixers, pumps, and extraction systems
    • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to reduce breakdowns and improve asset life
    • Complete electrical maintenance on motors, drives, control panels, PLC systems, sensors, and instrumentation
    • Undertake mechanical repairs including gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, valves, and rotating equipment
    • Support furnace maintenance including burners, thermocouples, cooling systems, and refractory monitoring
    • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and drive permanent corrective solutions
    • Ensure all work is completed in line with engineering standards and site safety procedures

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Work safely within a high-risk lead (Pb) processing environment, following strict PPE and hygiene protocols

  • Support compliance with PUWER, LOLER, and environmental regulations

  • Identify and report hazards, maintaining a safe and tidy working environment

  • Assist with audits, statutory inspections, and equipment compliance checks

Operational Support

  • Provide rapid response to breakdowns to minimise downtime and production impact

  • Support production teams to optimise plant efficiency and reliability

  • Maintain accurate records using the site CMMS system

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including 5S, lean manufacturing, and reliability programmes

Projects & Improvements

  • Support installation, commissioning, and modification of equipment and plant

  • Work alongside contractors during shutdowns and project works

  • Identify and implement engineering improvements to enhance performance and reduce failures

 What We’re Looking For
Essential

  • Experience working in heavy industrial, processing, foundry, recycling, or similarly demanding environments

  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capability

  • Experience with industrial systems such as conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated equipment

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics

  • Understanding of PLC-controlled systems

  • Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance tracking

  • Strong commitment to health & safety
Desirable

  • Experience with heavy hydraulic systems

  • Knowledge of furnace systems, burner management, or molten metal processes

  • IOSH qualification or equivalent safety training

  • Condition monitoring experience (vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication monitoring)

  • Welding, fabrication, or machining skills

 Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Multiskilled Maintenance

  • Apprenticeship-trained (advantageous)

  • Additional training in hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, or industrial automation is highly desirable

 What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly rate with 25% shift uplift on all hours worked

  • Overtime opportunities

  • Company pension scheme

  • Ongoing training and development (including PLC, electrical & mechanical upskilling)

  • Full PPE provided, including respiratory protection for lead (Pb) environments

  • Opportunity to work on complex, heavy industrial equipment in a technically challenging environment
