Compliance Analyst
Pay rate: £19.54 per hour
6-Month Contract | Hybrid (Cardiff or Swansea), Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week
About the Role
Joining the Water Regulations team, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity and compliance of permitting and licensing data. This is a highly analytical position, combining data review, compliance monitoring, reporting and stakeholder engagement to support effective regulatory oversight.
The successful candidate will have strong Excel and Power BI skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience working within a regulated, environmental, utilities, compliance or governance-focused environment.

Please note that applicants must be based within South Wales and able to travel to either Cardiff or Swansea as required. Candidates requiring relocation cannot be considered for this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
- Review, validate and cleanse permit and licensing data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Analyse datasets to identify trends, discrepancies and potential risks.
- Create and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Use advanced Excel functionality to support data analysis and reporting activities.
- Monitor data quality and investigate anomalies or compliance concerns.
- Highlight and escalate potential misuse or non-compliance relating to permits and licences.
- Respond to queries from internal stakeholders and provide guidance where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively across teams to resolve issues and improve data quality processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Water Regulations function.
- Previous experience in a Compliance Analyst, Regulatory Analyst, Data Analyst or similar role.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and complex data analysis.
- Experience building and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within a regulated, compliance-led or governance environment.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to identify potential risks and escalate issues appropriately.
- Demonstrable experience reviewing and interpreting large volumes of data.
