Job Description

Healthcare & Regulatory Solicitor, 5+ Years PQE, West Midlands, £90,000+ (DOE) – We are looking for an ambitious and experienced solicitor to join an expanding Commercial team, advising an impressive portfolio of household-name clients across the food, retail, FMCG and hospitality sectors. JOB REF:5987.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of consumer regulation, product compliance and commercial risk, helping businesses navigate an increasingly complex and evolving regulatory landscape. You will be involved in a varied and high-quality caseload, providing strategic advice on issues that are often high-profile, commercially sensitive and cross-border in nature.

You will have the opportunity to build trusted client relationships, take ownership of significant matters and contribute to the continued growth and profile of the practice. Alongside the technical challenge, you will be part of a genuinely collaborative team that values fresh thinking, knowledge-sharing and individual development.

A role with room to grow

We are particularly interested in speaking with high-performing Senior Associates who feel ready to take the next step into a Director position, as well as established Senior Associates looking for a firm that can offer a clear and credible route to progression.

You will have the opportunity to develop your own profile, support business development initiatives and help shape the future direction of the team, with the backing of an established wider network.

What you'll be doing

Your work will be varied and commercially focused, including:
• Advising major consumer-facing businesses on regulatory compliance, product safety, labelling, advertising, marketing and consumer protection.
• Helping clients manage complex product risks, from developing preventative strategies through to incident management, product withdrawals and recalls.
• Providing guidance on sustainability, environmental and green claims, including the regulatory challenges and potential enforcement risks associated with them.
• Supporting clients through regulatory investigations, enforcement action and engagement with bodies such as the CMA, Trading Standards and other relevant regulators.
• Working on UK-wide and international matters, collaborating with colleagues across the wider business to deliver joined-up advice.
• Taking an active role in developing junior colleagues, sharing expertise and contributing to the wider success of the practice.

What we're looking for

You'll be a qualified solicitor with a strong background in consumer regulatory, commercial or regulatory law. You will bring a solid understanding of the challenges facing consumer-facing businesses and the confidence to advise on complex issues in a clear, practical and commercially relevant way.

Ideally, you'll have:
• Experience advising on consumer protection, product regulation, product safety and regulatory compliance.
• A good understanding of regulatory investigations, enforcement processes and working with relevant authorities.
• Exposure to sectors such as food, retail, FMCG, hospitality or manufacturing.
• The ability to manage complex matters, balance competing priorities and build strong client relationships.
• Excellent technical, drafting and communication skills, alongside sound commercial judgement.
• The confidence to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers and an interest in business development would also be advantageous.
