Skills and Education Required

• Technical bias such as Honours, HNC/HND leaning towards Mechanical Engineering.
• Educational bias aligned towards Mathematics.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Interrogation of 2D and 3D drawing sets to compile a cost estimate.
• Compile estimates using parametric or historical data with reasoned assumptions where minimum engineering data is available.
• Compile estimates using empirical or comparative data with reasoned assumptions where historical data is available.
• Present estimates, clearly highlighting any assumptions, to others that may not be familiar with the data and issues so that they are readily understood.
• Analyse actual performance against estimated performance to benchmark the estimate standards and assumptions.
• Provide an estimating service to the Projects and Functions for engineering change and cost reduction opportunities.
• Systematic and uniform approach to complete tasks in timely manner
• Ability to communicate written and orally both internally within the business and externally with customers.

Financial Duties in the Role

• Capable of handling large volumes of data and consolidating and reporting this data effectively through the utilisation of strong IT skills.
• Provide support to Business Functions on all matters having a potential financial impact to the business.
• Ensure the overall integrity of financial reporting information for business performance.
• Assist with the financial accounting month-end closure process.
• Raise issues of concern/significant importance to Senior Finance staff to seek guidance/advice.
• Support decision making processes and to challenge performance of contacts where necessary by analysing key issues and trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Gain an understanding of the commercial impacts of business decisions on our contracts with our customers and suppliers.
