Job Description

We are delighted to be partnering with our client, a successful and growing multi-entity business, to recruit an experienced Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to join an ambitious organisation where you will play a key role in shaping the financial strategy, strengthening controls and supporting continued growth.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead the finance function, manage an established finance team and provide strategic financial insight to support business performance across the group.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the group's financial reporting, planning and compliance, ensuring robust financial controls are in place whilst delivering timely and accurate management information.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the preparation of monthly management accounts, year-end financial statements, board reports and detailed variance analysis.

    • Managing the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasting and long-term financial planning.

    • Producing financial reporting for banking partners and supporting external stakeholder requirements.

    • Monitoring group cash flow, treasury activities, working capital and multi-currency exposure.

    • Taking responsibility for UK VAT returns, including a separate standalone VAT registration.

    • Coordinating European VAT, OSS and IOSS reporting in partnership with external advisers.

    • Developing and enhancing financial controls, processes and audit readiness across the group.

    • Partnering with senior stakeholders to analyse business performance, identify efficiencies and improve profitability.

    • Driving improvements to finance systems, reporting capabilities and data quality.

    • Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team.

About You

We are seeking a qualified finance professional with strong technical expertise, commercial awareness and proven leadership experience.

To be successful, you will have:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.

    • Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or in a similar senior finance position.

    • Excellent knowledge of accounting standards, statutory reporting, tax and regulatory compliance.

    • Practical experience of European VAT registrations, OSS and IOSS reporting.

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills.

    • Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting software.

    • Strong budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management experience.

    • The ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

    • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience with Epicor ERP.

    • Finance transformation or systems implementation projects.

    • Systems integration experience.

    • Exposure to e-commerce or online trading environments.

    • Multi-currency operations.

    • Knowledge of payment platforms such as PayPal, Amazon and eBay.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and forward-thinking organisation where you will have genuine influence over the finance function. Working closely with the CEO, you will have the autonomy to enhance financial processes, improve reporting and help shape the future direction of the business.

If you are a proactive and commercially focused finance leader looking for your next challenge, we would love to hear from you.
