Are you an electrically biased Service Technician or Commissioning Engineer who enjoys hands-on fault-finding and working on customer sites?

We are recruiting on behalf of an established water treatment equipment specialist seeking a Field Service Technician to join its team. Offering substantial training and development, this is an opportunity to build a long-term career servicing and commissioning equipment across the UK

The Role
Combining field service work with workshop assembly and testing, you will install, maintain and repair water treatment equipment, ensuring that products integrate successfully with customers’ existing systems.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding on water treatment equipment, controllers, valves and instrumentation.
    • Installing, commissioning, calibrating and servicing equipment on customer sites.
    • Diagnosing control system faults, including working with PLC-controlled equipment.
    • Building, assembling and testing products within the workshop.
    • Supporting factory acceptance testing and preparing equipment for installation.
    • Liaising with customers, technical colleagues and subcontractors to complete work efficiently and safely.
    • Carrying out inspections and identifying maintenance requirements.

About You
You will be a practical, enthusiastic engineer with sound electrical knowledge, strong fault-finding skills and a reliable approach to customer service.

You will need:
  • An electrical engineering apprenticeship or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
    • A 17th or 18th Edition qualification.
    • Experience in field service, electrical maintenance or a similar hands-on engineering role.
    • Confidence diagnosing faults and working with electrical and mechanical equipment.
    • CSCS, Water Hygiene, Breathing Apparatus and Confined Spaces certifications.
    • Flexibility to travel, stay away overnight and participate in an on-call rota.

Water industry experience is highly desirable, as is PLC fault-finding experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens systems. SSSTS certification would be an advantage.

Travel and Working Arrangements
The role involves regular travel across the UK. Overnight stays are part of the position, typically around 3-4 nights per month, although requirements vary with the workload.
Where practical, you will travel directly from home to customer sites.

The Package
  • £45,000 basic salary.
    • On-call allowance.
    • Company van for business use.
    • Generous employer pension contribution up to 15%.
    • Vitality membership.
    • Paid accommodation and meals when working away.
    • Specialist tools and PPE provided.
    • Significant investment in training and ongoing development.
