Job Description

Are you an experienced Social Worker who’s passionate about creating safer, brighter futures for children and young people? Do you thrive in a forward‑thinking, community‑focused organisation that champions innovation, flexibility, and inclusive practice?

I am looking for a Senior Social Worker to join a dynamic Children & Young People’s Service at an organisation recognised for its commitment to high‑quality social work, strong multi‑agency partnerships, and an unrivalled focus on equality, diversity and inclusion.

Why Join?
    • They put children, young people, and families at the centre of every decision
    • They embrace flexible, agile working to help you balance life and career
    • They invest heavily in staff development, reflective practice, and supervision
    • They champion innovation, diversity, and continuous improvement
You’ll work in a borough known for its vibrant communities, progressive approach, and unwavering commitment to social justice and high‑quality public service.

      What You’ll Do
As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding children and supporting families through complex and challenging situations. You will:
        • Hold a complex caseload requiring strong assessment, planning and risk‑management skills
        • Deliver high‑quality interventions in line with statutory duties and best practice
        • Conduct comprehensive risk and needs assessments for children in need, at risk, or looked after
        • Lead on child protection, court work, and permanency planning
        • Work collaboratively with health, education, police, housing and other partners
        • Provide emergency response where children are at immediate risk
        • Model excellent practice and contribute to the learning culture within the team
        • Offer mentoring, support or supervision to students and junior staff (where appropriate)
      About You
      You’ll bring:

        • A Social Work degree (or equivalent) and Social Work England registration
        • At least two years’ post‑qualified experience in childcare, including Section 47, court work, and direct work with children
        • Strong analytical, assessment and report‑writing skills
        • Confidence working autonomously while positively engaging with supervision
        • A commitment to anti‑discriminatory practice and inclusive service delivery
        • The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, multi‑disciplinary environment

You’ll be someone who is adaptable, resilient, committed to continuous learning, and motivated by achieving the best outcomes for children.
