We are seeking an experienced
Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship Skills Coach to support and develop apprentices working within
light or heavy vehicle maintenance. This role is ideal for an industry professional with strong occupational competence who is passionate about coaching, mentoring, and developing future talent within the automotive sector.
You will be responsible for guiding apprentices through their apprenticeship programmes, supporting them from
enrolment through to End Point Assessment (EPA), ensuring high-quality delivery, progress, and achievement in line with apprenticeship standards and awarding body requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Coach and mentor apprentices on Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair apprenticeship standards (Light and/or Heavy Vehicle).
- Carry out workplace and remote observations, assessments, and progress reviews.
- Support apprentices through their full learning journey, including onboarding, skills development, progress tracking, and EPA preparation.
- Assess learners’ knowledge, skills, and behaviours in line with awarding body and ESFA requirements.
- Set clear SMART targets and action plans to support timely achievement.
- Maintain accurate and timely learner records using e-portfolio systems (e.g. OneFile or similar).
- Liaise effectively with employers to support apprentice progress and engagement.
- Provide constructive feedback to apprentices to promote continuous improvement.
- Ensure safeguarding, Prevent, and health & safety requirements are met at all times.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, audits, and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Requirements- Recognised Assessor Qualification (e.g. TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent).
- Significant occupational experience within light or heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Strong understanding of apprenticeship standards and work-based learning delivery.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate learners of varying abilities.
- Confident using digital systems and e-portfolio platforms.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
- Full UK driving licence and own vehcile
Desirable:• Experience with military vehicles or in a military training environment
Security Requirements• Ability to obtain and maintain
Security Check (SC) clearance
• Enhanced DBS (EDBS) required
