Job Description
We are currently recruiting for an HSE Manager to join a growing manufacturing business in Gloucester. This is a key leadership position responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining health, safety and environmental standards across the organisation.
Working closely with senior management and operational teams, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with legislation, reducing risk and promoting best practice throughout the business.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all health, safety and environmental activities across the site
- Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and company policies
- Conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions
- Develop, review and update HSE policies, procedures and documentation
- Deliver HSE training and toolbox talks to employees and managers
- Monitor site performance through audits, inspections and safety observations
- Manage environmental compliance, including waste, emissions and sustainability initiatives
- Work closely with operational teams to drive a culture of continuous improvement
- Provide regular HSE reports and recommendations to senior management
- Previous experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager position
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent health and safety qualification
- Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation
- Experience within management in a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment
- Excellent investigation, auditing and risk assessment skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Proactive approach to driving positive safety culture and behavioural change
- Membership of IOSH or equivalent professional body would be advantageous
- Competitive salary of up to £60,000 depending on experience
