Pertemps are assisting a construction business with a family-run feel
, where people come first and staff development is valued. We’re looking for a proactive, organised Procurement Coordinator who can manage changing workloads, adapt to delays, and keep construction projects running smoothly.
The Role You’ll play a key part in ensuring materials, suppliers, and schedules are aligned across projects. Construction is unpredictable, with weather delays and shifting priorities, so you’ll need to be flexible, solutions-focused, and able to reprioritise work at short notice.
Key Responsibilities: Procurement & Materials Management- Source timber, engineered wood, panel products, fixings, membranes, cranes, and haulage.
- Raise and manage purchase orders, update schedules, and track deliveries.
- Ensure materials reach site or manufacturing facilities on time.
Supplier Management- Build strong relationships with approved suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and agreements.
- Monitor performance and resolve quality, delivery, or service issues.
Project Coordination- Liaise with design, estimating, production, and site teams.
- Reprioritise and reschedule work to manage weather delays or other construction disruptions.
- Resolve supply chain challenges quickly.
Cost Control & Reporting- Manage material costs within budget.
- Identify savings opportunities, bulk purchases, and alternative sourcing.
- Maintain accurate records and report on supplier performance, price changes, and material allocation.
Quality & Stock Management- Ensure materials meet industry standards, building regulations, and company requirements.
- Maintain timber certifications and manage non-conforming materials.
- Monitor stock levels, minimise waste, and plan project-specific requirements.
What We’re Looking For- Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain coordination
- Construction industry experience (timber frame, manufacturing, or related areas advantageous)
- Knowledge of timber and construction materials
- Strong organisational, communication, and Microsoft Excel skills
- Commercial awareness
- Ability to adapt to changing workloads and work under pressure
