Job Description

We are currently recruiting a Night Operations Manager to join the Thames Valley networks team. This is a high-profile Operations role, where you will be responsible for leading the night and standby NSTS to ensure the operational services to our customers, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
This is an exciting opportunity in water networks to manage a frontline workforce. It is a wide-ranging role, with each day different from the last, posing unique challenges. Your role involves ensuring your team works safely to stringent H&S standards and delivers excellent customer service. You will develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business including the planning teams, key contractors and other external stakeholders.
This exciting position is a mixture of office and fieldwork, the percentage split based on changing business needs and challenges (average 60/40 split). Due to the nature of this role, you will be based out of our Kidlington Site.
Base Location: Kidlington - OX5 1QT.
Working Pattern or hours: 45 Hours Sunday – Thursday  9;30 pm-7;00 am.
As part of your role, there is a requirement to participate in an out-of-hours coordinator standby rota where you will gain incident management experience – there will be an additional payment for this.
What you’ll be doing as the Field Operations Manager (Nights)
  • Working in compliance with Company procedures including Health & Safety, Asset Management Standards, Business Operating Plan and Street works legislation.
  • First responder to SI incidents and water mains bursts, coordinating NST, R&M, NMC, and Customer Rep. activity to deliver the best possible outcome for our customers.
  • Site lead on water restoration activities in conjunction with core field and office functions. Responsible for reactive incident decision-making regarding restoration of customer supplies, taking calculated risks to the benefit of customers.
  • Optimisation of alternative water supplies to areas affected by an interruption to supply i.e. mobile PRVs / network infusions/tanker infusions, including responsibility for the 24/7 availability of specialist Supply Interruption tools and equipment.
  • Local network expert for isolation and rezoning providing information for risk assessments & sharing information regarding network risks to the field teams during incidents and repairs.
  • Become a local SI expert and role model, coaching field teams in dealing with SI incidents.
  • Ensure accurate data capture and documentation of supply interruptions, including responsibility for post-incident reviews and learning.
What you should bring to the role
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the clean water network is essential as well as the ability to converse with managers and stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in leading a high-performing front-line team of operational staff is preferred but not essential.
  • Be self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
  • Deliver exceptional service through an enthusiastic and positive approach.
  • Work flexibly to meet your team's needs.
  • A fully clean driving license is essential.
