Job Description

We have a new opening for an Adoptions Engineer, to manage the adoption processes of new sewerage systems, sewer diversions and pre-planning enquiries, being accountable for technically assessing at each stage.

What your being doing as the Adoptions Engineer?
Working as part of a dynamic team of engineers, you will take ownership and be the first point of contact for developers following their applications, as well as ensuring our assets are protected throughout the adoption process.

Within this role you the Adoption Engineer will be taking ownership of your geographical portfolio, engaging with many stakeholders both internal and external. Stakeholders will include internal departments such as Asset Planners, Operations, Major Projects and others, whilst externally you will work with Local Planning Authorities, Environment Agencies, product manufacturers, major developers, global consultancies, small developers, contractors and customers.

What you should bring to the role:
It’s envisaged the appointed Adoptions Engineer will hold a Civil Engineering degree and or equivalent and will have previous working experience in a similar position.
You’ll be a strong communicator at all levels both written and verbal with competent IT skills, able to liaise and negotiate where applicable.

With both Code for Adoptions and DMeX as our team's key performance indicators, you will deliver the customer promise by exceeding expectations for the statutory timescales, by being an efficient and professional communicator, keeping the developer well-informed throughout the process and building strong relationships for improved customer satisfaction overall.

You’ll build expertise in sewerage policy and legislation and will be fully up to date and knowledgeable on the most recent code of practice ‘Code for Adoptions’ including the Design and Construction Guidance and associated service level agreements and WaterUK metrics and will be responsible for meeting the sewer vesting targets each year.

  • This is a permanent (hybrid) position reporting to our head office in Reading. This opportunity is offering a starting salary of between £40,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on knowledge, experience suitability.
