A rare opportunity for a highly talented Tax Manager to bring Tax in-house and create a brand new Tax function at a very successful and still-growing, diverse business which spans B2B and B2C goods and services. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad role which will expose you to all areas of the business, and you will have a hands-on approach owning all Tax and Tax Strategy matters.
- Establish the department and own Tax within the Group with responsibility for Corporation Tax, VAT, Employment Taxes, and everything in between.
● Manage the activities and relationships with the Group’s external Tax advisors as required, with an expectation that the current set-up will be continually reviewed, assessed and optimised.
● Build and streamline all Tax-related processes to ensure compliance & scalability, with a suite of trackable KPIs to match.
● Design & maintain appropriate forecasts for upcoming Tax payments.
● Design, communicate and execute the Group's longer term Tax strategy in line with our overall objectives.
● Be the go-to expert to input on wider business strategy and other projects as the Tax voice in the room.
This role requires a well organised person who knows what excellent looks like and can create and develop systems and processes where they don’t already exist .
Applicants should be/have:
- Likely to be ACA / CTA qualified with at least 3 years PQE gained in either a large accounting firm or in house with strong UK direct tax knowledge.
● A strong understanding of UK Corporation Tax and some knowledge of other taxes.
● Passionate about Tax, with a mindset of continuous learning to stay updated on Tax laws and industry best practices.
● Proven self-starter - given the breadth of the role you may not have all the answers but you’ll need strong foundational knowledge and a proactive approach.
● Technically very strong but commercially aware & solution-orientated.
● Strong communicator: you can convey complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
● Demonstrable ability to switch between the detail and bigger picture.
Hybrid working is available with 2-3 days per week required in Wolverhampton.
Base salary to £70,000p.a. with car or £7k allowance, pension, PMI, 6x life cover and various other benefits.
