Client Manager to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to step into a client-facing leadership role within a dynamic and supportive firm.
The successful candidate will take ownership of a varied client portfolio, acting as a trusted advisor while overseeing the delivery of high-quality compliance and advisory services. You’ll be instrumental in driving client satisfaction, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice. This role offers a great blend of technical work, people management, and commercial responsibility – ideal for someone who enjoys building lasting client relationships and making a tangible impact.
Your responsibilities as the Client Manager will include:
- Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, acting as the primary point of contact for day-to-day queries and strategic advice.
- Prepare and review statutory accounts in accordance with FRS 102 and other relevant standards.
- Oversee and review VAT returns, management accounts, and corporation tax computations.
- Liaise with HMRC on client matters including tax compliance and investigations.
- Supervise and mentor junior team members, reviewing their work and supporting their development.
- Ensure timely delivery of client work within budget and deadlines.
- Identify opportunities to add value to client relationships, including advisory and planning services.
- Assist with onboarding of new clients and contribute to business development initiatives.
Requirements
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in UK practice.
- Proven experience managing a client portfolio in an accountancy firm setting.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102, VAT, and corporation tax.
- Proficiency in cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive, client-focused approach to service delivery.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with accounting software such as CCH, IRIS, or similar.
- Exposure to clients in sectors such as property, retail, or professional services.
- Experience in providing advisory services including tax planning, cashflow forecasting, or R&D claims.
