The Role
As a Semi-Senior Accountant, you will work across a varied portfolio of clients and be responsible for preparing accounts and supporting clients with their accounting and taxation requirements.

Your responsibilities as a Semi-Senior Accountant will include:
  • Preparing financial statements from source records through to final accounts for director review
    • Preparing accounting schedules to support balances and transactions within the financial statements
    • Working on a diverse range of client accounts
    • Preparing control account reconciliations
    • Liaising directly with clients, or through the relevant manager, to resolve queries and obtain further information
    • Ensuring a consistently high level of service and meeting client expectations
    • Providing timely and relevant recommendations on accounting matters, financial reporting and accounting systems
    • Supporting clients with cloud-based accounting software and systems
    • Assisting with tax computations and applying your knowledge of taxation to client work
    • Identifying issues and using your initiative to recommend practical solutions
    • Managing deadlines and prioritising competing workloads effectively
About You
We are looking for an ambitious and capable practice accountant with at least two years' experience in a similar role.
You will ideally have:
  • A minimum of AAT Level 4, or be studying towards ACCA or ACA
    • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice (minimum of 2 years)
    • Good knowledge of accounting and financial reporting
    • A good level of tax knowledge, including an awareness of how to prepare tax computations
    • Experience using IRIS would be highly desirable
    • Knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero, VT or QuickBooks
    • Confidence when dealing directly with clients and communicating your professional views
    • A proactive approach, with the ability to identify problems and find effective solutions
