Job Description

We’re excited to offer an opportunity for a Process Development & Training Manager to ensure our System Operations teams are fully trained, competent, and confident in delivering their roles consistently and effectively.

What you’ll be doing as a Process Development & Training Manager - System Operations

You’ll lead a team of Process Coaches and play a key role in onboarding new colleagues, maintaining and evolving our Licence to Operate (LTO) & Licence to Control framework, and driving continuous improvement in training and competency across Water and Waste System Operations and Incident Management. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our teams are equipped to deliver excellence every day.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead onboarding and induction for new System Operations team members, ensuring a smooth and effective start.
  • Ensure training for all involved with Incident Management is delivered.
  • Champion the Licence to Operate (LTO) and Licence to Control programme - maintain materials, facilitate assessments, and support team members in achieving their LTO.
  • Develop and update training content based on Root Cause Analyses, incident reviews, and other learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to define and document core processes and ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Manage process change training, ensuring updates are captured and communicated effectively.
  • Design and deliver engaging training sessions using a variety of methods, including classroom, virtual, and hands-on formats.
  • Maintain a comprehensive training library and ensure materials reflect current business needs.
  • Develop and oversee a competency assessment framework, keeping accurate records and ensuring compliance.
  • Support business-as-usual transitions by delivering training following project or system changes.
  • Work with stakeholders and regulators to ensure training frameworks meet operational and regulatory standards.

This position is based at Kemble Court, RG2 6AD. This role is mostly based on site; however, some hybrid working is available.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract/secondment.

What you should bring to the role

You’ll bring a blend of technical knowledge, coaching experience, and a passion for developing people.
  • Relevant qualifications and experience, such as a degree or ONC/HNC in a technical field, along with significant operational experience - ideally within the water or utilities sector.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage your workload independently.
  • Operational insight gained from working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Leadership and coaching experience, with a motivational and energetic approach to helping others grow and succeed.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to explain technical concepts clearly to a wide range of audiences.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and ideally have experience with systems such as GIS and SCADA.
  • An understanding of change management principles and how to support teams through transitions.
  • Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including regulators and senior managers, to build strong working relationships.
