Join Our Team as a Repair & Maintenance (R&M) Technician at Thames Water  – Thames Valley

We’re recruiting skilled and dedicated Repair & Maintenance (R&M) Technicians to join our growing team across the Thames Valley. If you're passionate about hands-on work, problem-solving, and making a real difference in your community, this could be the opportunity for you.

What you'll be doing as an R&M Technician:

As an R&M Technician, you will lead a two-person R&M team, ensuring all maintenance and repair tasks are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

You’ll be a key player in keeping vital infrastructure running smoothly.

You’ll work on a shift pattern including:
  • 1 in 4 weekends.
  • 1 in 4 weeks on a late shift.
  • 1 in 8 weeks on standby.
    (Average 45 hours per week)
We also have limited roles available on:
  • Fixed day shifts. (Monday to Friday)
  • Fixed late shifts. (Monday to Friday)

Flexibility for overtime during peak periods is essential.

What should you bring to the role?
  • Have experience or training in repair and maintenance – ideally within the water industry.
  • Be comfortable using computers and IT equipment.
  • Be proactive, solution-focused, and capable of working independently.
  • Communicate technical issues in a clear and simple way.
  • Have a positive, “right first time” attitude and be open to change.
  • Be physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather.
  • Be confident, motivated, and committed to high standards.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • EUSR Water Hygiene Card.
  • Streetworks (NRSWA) or SSSTS qualification.
  • Level 2 Service Avoidance.
  • First Aid Qualification.

Desirable (but not essential)
  • Parts C1 & E of the UK Driving Licence.
  • Mains & Service Laying Training.
  • Underground Cable Detection.
  • Manual Handling Training.
  • Mini Digger / JCB Qualifications.
  • Lorry Loader Training.
  • Deep Excavation / Trench Timbering Training.
  • Temporary Works Qualification.
  • Abrasive Wheels Certification.
