Job Description

Are you ready to lead the future of data-driven asset management? As our Asset Performance Insight Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of transforming how Thames Water understands and improves its wastewater network. Sitting within our Operations Data, Capacity & Insight function, you’ll guide a specialist team using advanced geospatial analytics and risk modelling to proactively prevent sewer flooding and pollution. This is your chance to contribute meaningfully to our customers, our environment, and the way we manage our assets.

What you’ll be doing as an Asset Performance Insight Manager

As an Asset Performance Insight Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading a high-performing team of data and geospatial analysts, driving innovation in asset risk modelling, and shaping strategic interventions across our wastewater network.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead, manage and coach a team of 5 people (data and geospatial analysts), including performance management, team strategy, task leadership and talent/career progression.
  • Apply data analytics to wastewater network assets (sewer pipes, manhole chambers, ancillary assets), to understand asset performance, derive insights and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Continue the design and development of the i3 (Information, Insight, Intervention) below ground model, the innovative data-led geospatial risk model the team have built that prioritises risk and targets interventions across wastewater network assets.
  • Lead the targeting of planned intervention programmes across the wastewater network (such as sewer cleaning, sewer rehabilitation, customer education); i3 is used for prioritising over £200m of investment in the current Asset Management Plan period (AMP8, 2025-2030)
  • Regulatory reporting submissions on asset health measures and monitor the effectiveness of interventions through performance tracking.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise, collaborating with colleagues across Thames Water to implement best practices in data management, data quality, analytics, and define the relevant use of new data platforms and systems for operational analytics.
Location: Hybrid – Clearwater Court, Reading, RG1 8DB. There will be a limited need for business travel such as occasional meetings at other Thames Water sites.

What you should bring to the role

We’re looking for someone who’s not just technically skilled, but also a confident leader and strategic thinker. You’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced, data-rich environment and be motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution.

  • Deep understanding of asset performance and risk modelling, ideally within the water industry, but similar industries would be considered.
  • Strategic thinking, planning and clear communication, with the ability to define and drive change and influence key internal and external stakeholders using insight from complex data analysis.
  • Excellence in data management, demonstrate role-model behaviours including attention to detail, accuracy, trust and reliability in all data and analytical activities to the team and wider data community.

What’s in it for you?

This role offers a great opportunity to apply your analytical skills in a meaningful way, supporting Thames Water in making informed decisions about how we manage our wastewater network.
