HGV Taskforce Driver
UK-wide | £21.44–£24.57 per hour | Temporary Christmas contract
Pertemps is recruiting HGV Class 1 Drivers to support Royal Mail during its busy Christmas period.
This opportunity is ideal for flexible, professional drivers willing to temporarily relocate for 6–10 weeks. You’ll transport mail and parcels between Royal Mail sites, working to scheduled delivery times while maintaining high safety standards.
What’s included?
  • PAYE rates of £21.44–£24.57 per hour, depending on location and start time
    • Minimum eight-hour shifts
    • Rota based on five shifts across seven days
    • A sixth shift may be available where legally permitted
    • Paid hotel accommodation, including breakfast and one meal each day
    • £15 daily subsistence allowance, paid seven days a week (£105 per week)
    • £240 weekly relocation payment, accrued and paid at the end of the assignment*
    • Mileage paid at 45p per mile for one return journey between your UK home address and allocated hotel
    • Holiday pay accrued
Assignment dates
Phased start dates begin on Monday 2 November 2026, with assignments running until Monday 4 January 2027.
Depending on your allocation, the assignment will last between six and ten weeks. You’ll need to arrive at your accommodation during the weekend before your start date for introductions and a briefing.
This is a peak-period role, so you must be available to work:
  • Weekends
    • Christmas Eve
    • Boxing Day
    • New Year’s Eve
    • New Year’s Day
What you’ll need
  • A full UK driving licence
    • HGV Class 1 / LGV C+E entitlement held for at least 12 months
    • At least 80 days’ Class 1 driving experience within the past six months
    • Current Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph cards
    • No more than six penalty points
    • No IN, DD, CD or DR endorsements
    • Flexibility to work all allocated shifts throughout the assignment
    • Ability to work on a PAYE basis
Before joining the project, you’ll need to complete security clearance, a tachograph download and a driving assessment. Depending on your infringement history, you may also need to attend a two-hour Working Time Directive refresher course, which will be paid once you begin the assignment.
