About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated
Senior Finance Officer to play a key role in supporting the Facilities Management department. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys problem solving, and is confident in delivering a high-quality financial service.
Reporting to the Finance & Performance Manager, you will supervise the delivery of a flexible finance function, ensuring accurate financial processing, timely reporting, and robust compliance with relevant policies and procedures. You will also provide expert financial guidance to senior colleagues, helping to shape and improve business processes within a large and complex organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise the provision of financial support across Facilities Management services.
- Lead on financial year-end processes including accruals and stock certification.
- Oversee the processing of data (budgets, payroll, and unit statistics) to produce accurate monthly management reports.
- Raise purchase orders and external invoices, and ensure supplier payments are processed within statutory timescales.
- Investigate and resolve subcontractor invoice queries.
- Ensure financial data is processed, reported, and filed in line with audit requirements.
- Recharge internal/external services, raise journals, and manage catering/cleaning income recovery.
- Maintain and update the internal management accounting system to support trading and performance reports.
- Support subsidy claims, petty cash management, and other operational finance processes.
- Provide financial advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders across the service.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and support the strategic development of the FM department.
About You
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive, and confident working independently. You should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
Essential skills and experience:- Experience of financial systems, office administration, and data management.
- Strong IT skills, with confidence in computerised accounting systems.
- Supervisory experience, with a clear understanding of customer care.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands.
