Pertemps Education Network is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Lambeth to recruit a motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic Psychology, Autism & SEN Learning Support Assistant to join its specialist Autism Provision.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology graduate or aspiring educational, clinical or child psychologist to develop practical experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of additional needs within a primary school environment.
Working closely with experienced teachers, SEN professionals and support staff, you will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils develop their communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence.

Working closely with experienced teachers, SEN professionals and support staff, you will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils develop their communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence.
The Role:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils within a specialist Autism Provision.
- Support children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties and associated learning needs.
- Help pupils access the curriculum through differentiated activities and individual learning strategies.
- Support the development of communication, social interaction and emotional regulation skills.
- Implement structured learning activities and interventions to encourage engagement and independence.
- Provide consistent, positive support for pupils who may display challenging behaviour or experience sensory and communication difficulties.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider multidisciplinary team to support individual pupil development.
- Create a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment where every child can reach their potential.
- A Psychology graduate or graduate in a related discipline, such as Child Development, Education or Speech and Language.
- A genuine interest in autism, neurodevelopment and special educational needs.
- Previous experience working with children with autism or additional needs would be advantageous.
- An understanding of social communication, sensory processing and emotional regulation.
- Patient, empathetic and resilient, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with children.
- A proactive and adaptable individual who can respond positively to the varying needs of pupils.
- An aspiring Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Child Psychologist or SEN Teacher looking to gain valuable school-based experience.
- Gain valuable practical experience within a primary school specialist Autism Provision.
- Develop your understanding of autism, ADHD and complex learning needs.
- Work alongside experienced SEN teachers and specialist support professionals.
- Build relevant experience for a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology or specialist education.
- Make a genuine difference to the educational and personal development of children with additional needs.
