Pertemps are recruiting for an experienced
Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join
The Royal Borough of Greenwich. This is a
specialist and senior role within Children’s Services, requiring a highly authoritative professional with the ability to provide leadership, challenge senior stakeholders, and exercise statutory responsibilities with confidence.
About the Role: The LADO role is a
standalone position within the local authority, providing independent oversight and leadership in managing allegations against staff and professionals who work with children.
You will:
- Act as a senior safeguarding lead, ensuring all allegations are handled in line with statutory guidance.
- Provide clear leadership within the Practice Improvement and Development Service.
- Challenge and escalate concerns to senior management within and outside the local authority where necessary.
- Offer expert advice and support across the Children’s Services Department and the wider multi-agency safeguarding partnership.
- Ensure compliance with statutory guidance, including the IRO Handbook and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
Requirements:
- Qualified and experienced Children’s Social Worker (Social Work England registered).
- Experience at Team Manager level or equivalent senior safeguarding role.
- Strong knowledge of statutory safeguarding frameworks and guidance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and partnership working skills.
- Confidence to challenge and escalate issues at a senior level.
