Assistant Service Director – Adult Social Care
Location: South East England
Day Rate: £550–£850 per day
Working Arrangements: Full-time

Pertemps are working with a local authority in the South East to recruit an experienced Assistant Service Director to provide senior leadership across Adult Social Care.
This is a key leadership role within the ASC senior management team, with direct responsibility for Locality Teams and Long-Term Support services, alongside joint accountability for overall service performance, transformation, and delivery.
You will play a pivotal role in driving high-quality, person-centred services, promoting independence, and ensuring positive outcomes for residents, while maintaining full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing strategic and operational leadership across Locality and Long-Term Support services
    • Leading on transformation and continuous service improvement initiatives
    • Ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding procedures
    • Driving performance management, quality assurance, and service standards
    • Managing budgets effectively and identifying efficiencies
    • Leading, developing, and supporting Team Managers and senior staff
    • Building strong partnerships with health, housing, and voluntary sector stakeholders
    • Contributing to wider ASC strategy and deputising for the Service Director when required
    • Supporting service delivery aligned with CQC expectations and national reforms
About you:
  • Significant senior leadership experience within Adult Social Care (local authority setting)
    • Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
    • Proven experience in leading service transformation and improvement
    • Demonstrable experience managing budgets and large, complex teams
    • Ability to operate strategically while maintaining strong operational oversight
    • Excellent stakeholder management and partnership working skills
