Assistant Service Director – Adult Social Care
Location: South East England
Day Rate: £550–£850 per day
Working Arrangements: Full-time
Pertemps are working with a local authority in the South East to recruit an experienced Assistant Service Director to provide senior leadership across Adult Social Care.
This is a key leadership role within the ASC senior management team, with direct responsibility for Locality Teams and Long-Term Support services, alongside joint accountability for overall service performance, transformation, and delivery.

Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic and operational leadership across Locality and Long-Term Support services
- Leading on transformation and continuous service improvement initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding procedures
- Driving performance management, quality assurance, and service standards
- Managing budgets effectively and identifying efficiencies
- Leading, developing, and supporting Team Managers and senior staff
- Building strong partnerships with health, housing, and voluntary sector stakeholders
- Contributing to wider ASC strategy and deputising for the Service Director when required
- Supporting service delivery aligned with CQC expectations and national reforms
- Significant senior leadership experience within Adult Social Care (local authority setting)
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Proven experience in leading service transformation and improvement
- Demonstrable experience managing budgets and large, complex teams
- Ability to operate strategically while maintaining strong operational oversight
- Excellent stakeholder management and partnership working skills
