An outstanding special school in Birmingham is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils with a range of special educational needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for making a difference and the skills to provide tailored support in a nurturing and stimulating environment.

As a Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will work closely with experienced teachers and specialist staff to ensure that every pupil can access learning and achieve their full potential. Pupils have a range of needs including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and complex needs. Your role will be to provide both academic and emotional support, adapting approaches to meet individual learning styles.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting teaching and learning in the classroom and during small group activities
• Assisting with the planning and delivery of personalised learning programmes
• Helping pupils develop their social, communication, and life skills
• Providing encouragement, structure, and clear boundaries to promote positive behaviour
• Supporting with personal care where required
• Creating a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working with pupils with SEND (in a school or care setting)
• A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with children
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting pupils with special needs
• Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate (desirable)
