Teaching Assistant – Key Stage 2 – SEMH & Behaviour Support

A caring and supportive primary SEMH school is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1-2-1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with challenging behaviours and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who thrives on helping children overcome barriers to learning and develop confidence both academically and emotionally.

As a Teaching Assistant in this role, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider pastoral team to deliver consistent, structured, and nurturing support. Your role will involve helping the pupil to manage behaviour, stay focused in lessons, and develop positive coping strategies. The ideal candidate will be calm under pressure, confident in using positive behaviour management techniques, and passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.

Job Role:
• Providing 1-2-1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
• Building a strong, trusting relationship to encourage engagement and participation.
• Supporting the pupil’s emotional regulation and helping them to manage behaviour positively.
• Working with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning strategies.
• Monitoring progress and contributing to behaviour and support plans.
• Encouraging social interaction, communication skills, and confidence in the classroom.
