Design & Technology Teacher – SEND School – January 2026
A welcoming and well-resourced SEND school is looking for a Design & Technology Teacher to join the team on a permanent basis. The school has outstanding facilities, excellent access to specialist equipment and a leadership team that genuinely prioritises staff wellbeing and student success. Learners have a primary diagnosis of autism and moderate learning needs, and benefit from small classes, consistent routines and a supportive learning environment.

As a Design & Technology Teacher, you will deliver practical and engaging lessons that develop creativity, problem-solving and independence. You will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants and work closely with pastoral and therapy teams to ensure every child can achieve their full potential. This role requires a QTS or QTLS Design & Technology Teacher.

Role Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver D&T lessons tailored to individual learning needs
• Teach small groups of students with autism and moderate learning needs
• Maintain a safe, structured and purposeful workshop environment
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and wider support teams
• Track progress and adapt planning to support varied learning styles
• Encourage practical skills, confidence and personal development

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching Design & Technology (SEND experience beneficial but not essential)
• Ability to differentiate lessons and support communication needs
• A patient, calm and supportive approach to classroom management
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
