Secondary SEND Teacher – Key Stage 4 – Birmingham
A welcoming and supportive SEND school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Secondary SEND Teacher to teach a Key Stage 4 class of students with moderate learning needs, including Autism and Down’s Syndrome. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a calm, structured setting where students are supported to achieve both academically and personally.

As a Secondary SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a carefully adapted curriculum to a small class, ensuring lessons are accessible, engaging, and tailored to individual needs. You will work closely with experienced Teaching Assistants and a supportive leadership team who place the wellbeing and progress of students at the heart of everything they do.

Job Role:
  • Teaching a Key Stage 4 class of students with moderate learning needs, including Autism and Down’s Syndrome
  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons to support academic and personal development
  • Creating a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants to provide consistent support throughout the day
  • Monitoring progress and adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs
  • Building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching students with SEND, particularly moderate learning needs (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A flexible, patient, and child-centred approach to teaching
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND
