SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth (SW2) is seeking a dedicated SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. The school is interviewing suitable candidates immediately and is looking to appoint a committed individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
This rewarding role will involve providing 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil access learning, regulate emotions and develop positive relationships within the school environment.

The Role
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with ASC and SEMH needs.
- Supporting the pupil both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and promoting positive engagement.
- Assisting with emotional regulation and social development.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals.
- Supporting the pupil with aspects of personal care when required.
- Creating a safe, nurturing and structured environment that enables the pupil to thrive.
- Experience supporting children with ASC, SEMH or other additional needs.
- Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
- Resilient, patient and able to build positive, trusting relationships.
- Comfortable supporting personal care needs when necessary.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A background in education, youth work, mentoring, care or support work would be advantageous.
