SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Autism Support) - Reception
Clapham, SW4 (Lambeth)
Are you an exceptional SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Autism to thrive academically, socially and emotionally?
A highly successful and ambitious primary school in Clapham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with Autism. The Role As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception-aged child with Autism.
    • Support the child's communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and learning.
    • Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, parents and external professionals to implement strategies and interventions.
    • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and enable access to the Early Years curriculum.
    • Build positive relationships that promote confidence, independence and engagement.
    • Monitor progress and contribute to pupil reviews and support plans.
    • Help create a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have:
  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism and/or other Special Educational Needs.
    • A strong understanding of SEN strategies, particularly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
    • High expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour.
    • Strong literacy and numeracy skills with a good academic background.
    • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated school team.
    • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare or SEND (desirable).
