Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant | Clapham Common, Lambeth A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Clapham Common, Lambeth is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with Autism on a 1:1 basis from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and proactive Teaching Assistant who has previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) and a sound understanding of Year 1 Phonics.
The Role As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver tailored support.
• Help the pupil engage positively with learning and classroom activities.
• Support the child's communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist with the delivery of Year 1 Phonics interventions and literacy activities.
• Foster a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who has:

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant within a primary school.
• Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Knowledge and understanding of SEN strategies and interventions.
• Experience supporting Year 1 Phonics and early literacy development.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting children with additional needs.
