School Administrator
Location: Camberwell, Southwark, South London
Hours: 8:15am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist school in Camberwell, Southwark for a dedicated and adaptable School Administrator to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is a unique opportunity to work within a small school setting of approximately 30 students, supporting young people who face a range of complex challenges including social, emotional and behavioural needs, autism spectrum conditions, exploitation risks, gang-related influences and difficult home circumstances.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the day-to-day running of the school and must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the school reception and acting as the first point of contact for visitors, parents and external professionals.
    • Monitoring and recording pupil attendance.
    • Chasing absences and liaising with parents, carers and families regarding attendance concerns.
    • Maintaining accurate student records and confidential files.
    • Liaising with social workers, local authorities and other external agencies.
    • Supporting the leadership team with administrative tasks and reporting.
    • Managing correspondence, emails and telephone enquiries.
    • Assisting with safeguarding and welfare-related administration.
    • Supporting the smooth operation of the school office and wider school community.
Person Specification The ideal candidate will:
  • Have previous administrative experience, ideally within a school, education or social care setting.
    • Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
    • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Be confident communicating with vulnerable families and external agencies.
    • Be resilient, adaptable and able to manage challenging situations professionally.
    • Understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding.
    • Be prepared to encounter a variety of situations and respond calmly and effectively.
