SEMH Teaching Assistant Required We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a Year 10 pupil on a 1:1 basis across two specialist education settings in Reading and Wokingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Role As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide consistent 1:1 support to a Year 10 student, helping them to engage positively with learning, manage their emotions, and achieve their educational goals.
The successful candidate will work:
  • Thursday and Friday in a specialist SEMH School in Reading
    • Monday to Wednesday in a school based in Wokingham
    • Supporting the same pupil across both settings
    • Building positive relationships and promoting emotional wellbeing
    • Assisting with classroom activities and learning interventions
    • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in education
    • Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, SEND, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs
    • Is calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations
    • Can build strong and trusting relationships with young people
    • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Is committed to supporting pupils to achieve their full potential
    • Backgrounds in education, youth work, coaching, care, mental health support or support work are highly desirable
