SEN Tutor (Post-16 Provision)
Location: Hounslow TW19
Salary: £31,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am – 4:30pm
(Students attend Monday–Thursday; Fridays dedicated to planning and administration)
Start Date: ASAP (interviews taking place this week)
We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEN Tutor to join a specialist post-16 provision supporting young people aged 16–25 with additional needs.
This is a unique opportunity for an education professional who is passionate about making a real impact, helping young adults transition from education into the world of work and independent living.
About the Role This position is similar in responsibility to a teaching role, however Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is not required. Instead, we are looking for someone with strong educational experience and a commitment to delivering practical, life-based learning.
You will be working with small groups of learners (maximum of 8 per class), all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The primary needs within the setting are Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).
The focus of your teaching will be on developing real-life skills, employability, independence, and confidence, helping learners prepare for adulthood and the workplace.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, practical lessons tailored to individual needs
    • Support students in developing life skills, employability skills, and independence
    • Adapt teaching approaches to suit learners with ASD and SEMH needs
    • Track and monitor student progress in line with EHCP outcomes
    • Create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
    • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support each learner
    • Use Fridays effectively for planning, preparation, and administrative tasks
Requirements
  • Level 3 qualification (or above) in Education and Training / Learning & Development (essential)
    • Experience delivering learning (e.g. Tutor, Instructor, HLTA or similar – classroom delivery required)
    • Experience supporting individuals with SEN, particularly ASD and/or SEMH
    • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
    • A proactive, nurturing, and resilient approach
Please note: This role requires experience delivering learning. Candidates solely with SEN Teaching Assistant/LSA experience will not be suitable unless they have led sessions independently in a structured teaching capacity.
What’s on Offer
  • Competitive salary of £31,000 – £35,000
    • Small class sizes (max. 8 learners) allowing for meaningful impact
    • Dedicated weekly planning and admin time
    • Opportunity to work in a highly rewarding post-16 SEN setting
    • A supportive and values-driven organisation focused on outcomes for young people
    • Permanent contract with long-term progression opportunities
Why Apply? This is an opportunity to be part of a provision that is truly changing lives—supporting young adults with additional needs to gain the confidence and skills they need for the future.
To apply: Please send your CV and availability for an immediate discussion. Interviews are being held this week for suitable candidates.
