Job Description

EYFS Graduate Teaching Assistant

Want real Early Years experience before teacher training?

Support Nursery and Reception so days run calm, purposeful and language rich.

*** EYFS Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £85 - £101 per day
*** ‘Good’ 3-form entry primary school, Wolverhampton
*** General classroom support across an EYFS class

The Role:
You will help deliver a smooth EYFS day from arrival to home time. Set up and refresh continuous provision, prepare simple resources and keep zones organised so children can choose and tidy independently. Lead short adult-led activities in phonics, early number, fine motor and communication, then feed new learning back into play. Model clear talk at children’s level, extend play with focused questions and coach sharing and turn taking. Use visual timetables and now next prompts so transitions stay predictable. Note quick observations, update simple trackers and agree next steps with the class teacher and, when needed, the SENCO. Follow safeguarding and behaviour routines at all times and support arrival, snack, outdoor learning and home time.

The Candidate & Requirements:
You are patient, organised and clear in your communication. You follow guidance closely and adapt quietly so pupils grow in confidence and independence.

  • Degree, 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication, confident written and spoken English.
  • Enhanced DBS, already held or willingness to obtain.
  • Desire to work in education or with children, strong interest in EYFS and early development.
  • Experience working with children, desirable but not essential.

The School:
This ‘Good’ 3-form entry Wolverhampton primary has settled EYFS routines and well defined indoor and outdoor zones for role play, construction, small world, mark making and sensory exploration. Daily phonics is matched to reading practice. Early maths is taught in small steps with concrete and pictorial models and frequent quick checks, so approaches stay consistent across classes. Teams co-plan and share ready-to-use activity cards, language prompts and observation sheets, which keeps preparation efficient and ensures your support aligns with the curriculum. New colleagues receive a clear induction, weekly bite-size CPD and focused coaching with precise, usable next moves.

How to Apply
Apply through the job advert with your CV. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief call and an in-school observation. Roles may close early if filled.

Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
