Job Description

Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Gain primary SEN experience that counts.

Support pupils through calm, structured 1:1 and small-group work.

*** Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** £82 - £101 per day
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** ‘Good’ primary school, Wolverhampton
*** 1:1 and small group support with Autism, ADHD and EBD

The Role:

You will provide steady, practical support in class and in short intervention slots. You will break tasks into clear steps, use visuals and now/next prompts, and set small goals that pupils can meet. You will run brief sessions to build communication, reading fluency and number facts, then help pupils apply the learning back in class. You will plan simple regulation routines, agree re-entry steps with the teacher, and keep quick notes so next actions are clear. You will follow behaviour plans and safeguarding at all times, keep resources organised, and help the day run on time.

The Candidate & Requirements:

You are patient, organised and direct in your communication. You notice early signs of dysregulation, keep boundaries consistent and help pupils grow independence.

  • Degree, 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication, confident written and spoken English.
  • Enhanced DBS, held already or willingness to obtain.
  • Desire to work in education or with children, strong interest in SEN and wellbeing.
  • Experience working with children, desirable but not essential.

The School:

This ‘Good’ Wolverhampton primary uses simple, consistent routines from arrival to home time. Staff share clear behaviour language, visual timetables and plan–do–review cycles so support is joined up. Reading has protected daily time with phonics lower down and guided practice in KS2. Maths is taught in small, connected steps with frequent low-stakes checks so methods stay consistent between classes. Teams co-plan and share model texts, worked examples and ready-to-use intervention packs, which keeps preparation efficient and ensures your work aligns with the curriculum. New colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly bite-size CPD and focused coaching so you can show impact quickly.

How to Apply

Apply through the job advert with your CV. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief call and an in-school observation. Roles may close early if filled.
