Graduate Academic Coach
 
Could you provide the steady support young people need when school feels overwhelming? Are you looking for meaningful experience in a specialist setting before moving into educational or clinical psychology?

The Role:
Support students across the school who need additional help to access learning, manage routines, and engage positively with education. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, help pupils build confidence, reinforce classroom expectations, and work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
 
The Candidate:
You are calm, observant, and able to build trust through consistency and clear communication. You want practical school-based experience, you can stay patient in a specialist setting, and you are interested in how the right support helps young people with complex emotional and mental health needs feel safer and more able to learn.
 
Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in psychology or related subject.
    • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
    • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
    • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
    • Career Goals – An interest in building a long-term career supporting children and young people with additional needs.
 
The School:
The school is a specialist education setting that supports young people receiving care for eating disorders and associated mental health needs. Students may join the school for a short or longer period while accessing treatment, so staff provide a calm, flexible and therapeutic learning environment. The school focuses on helping pupils maintain academic progress, rebuild confidence and re-engage positively with education at a pace that supports their wider recovery.
