The Role
A secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a creative and ambitious Head of Art to lead their department from September 2026 on a permanent basis.
This is a key leadership position, responsible for driving the quality of teaching and learning within the Art department. You will oversee the delivery of Art across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to shape curriculum design, develop schemes of work, and raise standards of attainment.
You will lead on departmental strategy, manage resources effectively, and promote creativity across the school, ensuring students are engaged, inspired, and able to achieve strong outcomes.
 
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS and a relevant degree in Art or a related subject
    • Have experience teaching Art at secondary level, including GCSE
    • Demonstrate a track record of raising attainment and student engagement
    • Be confident in leading, coaching, and developing staff
    • Show creativity and innovation in curriculum design and delivery
    • Be committed to maintaining high standards and continuous improvement
