two Social Workers to join the
Child Care Assessment Team (CCAT) within
Children’s Services in Pembrokeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a statutory frontline team on a
24-week temporary assignment, supporting children and families while permanent recruitment is underway.
About the RoleThe Child Care Assessment Team undertakes statutory duties including
child protection, Children Looked After, court work, and family support in line with the
Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and associated codes of practice.
You will manage a varied caseload, meet statutory timescales, complete high-quality assessments, and contribute to safeguarding children across Pembrokeshire. This role is primarily
office-based due to participation in the
Section 47 Joint Investigation (JI) rota, with some opportunity to work from home for assessment write-ups.
What You’ll Do• Complete statutory assessments within required timescales, ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing
• Undertake child protection investigations and manage complex child in need and exploitation-related cases
• Hold and manage court cases, preparing reports and giving evidence where required
• Participate in the
S.47 Joint Investigation rota, working alongside partner agencies
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with legislative and organisational requirements
• Work collaboratively with families, colleagues, and multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes
What We’re Looking For• A
qualified Social Worker with a Degree/Diploma in Social Work
• Registration with
Social Care Wales (or equivalent)
• Sound knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding practice, and statutory assessment frameworks
• Experience in child protection, court work, and multi-agency working
• Strong assessment, report-writing, and case management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced statutory environment
