Network Recruitment Wales is seeking an Occupational Therapist (Housing) to join
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Private Sector Housing Team on a 20-week temporary assignment to support short-term service demand.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in maximising accessible housing, supporting disabled residents, and contributing to safe, timely hospital discharge and housing solutions across the County Borough.
What You’ll Do:- Provide specialist Occupational Therapy advice on housing and adaptations for disabled people across public and private sector housing.
- Undertake OT assessments for housing applicants referred via the Common Housing Register where medical need is identified.
- Assess the need for minor and major adaptations and make professional recommendations to promote independence and safety.
- Support accessible housing strategy by identifying demand, recording accessible properties, and matching applicants to suitable homes.
- Provide expert advice to Housing Assessment Panels and Housing Review Panels.
- Work collaboratively with housing officers, health professionals, social landlords, contractors, and third-sector partners.
- Assist with complex hospital discharge cases where housing adaptations or rehousing are required.
- Maintain accurate case records, reports, and professional documentation.
- Represent the Private Sector Housing Service at meetings and multi-agency forums when required.
What We’re Looking For:- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation, adaptations, accessible design standards, and OT best practice.
- Experience assessing for housing adaptations and advising on accessible housing solutions.
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and partnership-working skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with housing services, health professionals, or multi-disciplinary teams is desirable.
- Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.
- Full UK Category B driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
Essential Requirements:- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS check (Children and Adults Barred List) and subscribes to the DBS update service
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Full UK driving licence and business-use car insurance.
- Criminal Convictions Declaration.
- Health Declaration / Questionnaire.
- Signed Confidentiality Agreement.
- CV and Employment History Form.
- Minimum of 3 years’ references / work history.
