Scotland’s Census Team Leader – Fixed Term Contract February – May 2022

The census is the official count of every person and household in Scotland, that usually happens every 10 years. It helps build a picture of the population, which government and other service providers rely on to make important decisions in your local area. This is your chance to get involved in Scotland’s Census 2022 as we need your help and enthusiasm to encourage people across Scotland to participate.

We are hiring Census Team Leaders all across Scotland, to manage a team of Enumerators within your assigned field work area. You will serve as the interface between field operations and operational headquarters and will ensure that work in your assigned area is carried out in accordance with work plan directives and any issues are escalated and dealt with appropriately.

Main Duties as Census Team Leader:

  • Lead, manage and guide a team of Enumerators
  • Ensure enumeration activities are completed across your area including scheduling weekly workloads
  • Deal with questions, provide assistance and resolve a variety of issues with the public and your enumeration staff
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of census information at all times
  • Submit own timesheet and expense claims in a timely and accurate manner and check and authorise pay and expense claims submitted by your team
  • Complete and attend all training activities as directed
  • Facilitate and manage induction/training sessions as well as team meetings
  • Monitor the progress of non-return follow-up and analyse management information reports to track progress and motivate your team
  • Pair up with enumerators on the doorstep where required
  • Take care of your own wellbeing and that of your team by following health and safety processes and procedures
  • Participate in decommission and evaluation activities
Skills Required:
  • Able to plan, organise and deliver to meet deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills, including a helpful, professional attitude
  • Experience in managing staff and working in a team environment
  • A good working knowledge of IT
Additional Considerations:
  • Able to travel throughout various areas within allocated region
  • Flexibility in working hours and days are required
  • Use of private transport may be required, where this is the case, you must hold a current, valid driving licence in the UK and have use of a motor vehicle
  • Use of a secure location for storing ancillary material and hardware is required
  • Access to a secure broadband internet connection
  • Previous experience of working with vulnerable groups may be an advantage
Contracted 25 hours per week however flexibility is required during the period of the contract, flexibility of working between 08:00 – 20:00 Monday – Sunday, a combination of daytime, evening, weekend and possible public holiday working.,

Hourly Rate: £13.98
