Structural Engineer (Hybrid)
Are you a Structural Engineer with around 2–6 years’ experience looking to further develop your design skills while gaining exposure to a wide range of building projects?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering practical, well-considered engineering solutions across a variety of sectors. Working as part of a collaborative design environment, you will support the delivery of projects from early concept stages through to construction.
You will work closely with senior engineers, architects and other consultants to develop coordinated structural designs that meet both architectural aspirations and technical standards. The role offers strong exposure to building design, refurbishment projects and structural assessments of existing buildings, while providing structured support towards professional development and Chartership.

The company’s current projects include:
- Residential and mixed-use developments using reinforced concrete, steel and masonry structural systems
- Commercial and public sector building projects across multiple sectors
- Refurbishment, structural alterations and building extensions
- Structural strengthening and adaptation of existing buildings
- Structural condition surveys and technical assessments
- Collaborative multidisciplinary projects involving architecture, surveying and engineering teams
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering structural designs for building projects in reinforced concrete, steel, masonry and timber
- Producing structural calculations, sketches and technical design information
- Developing practical and economic structural solutions aligned with architectural concepts
- Undertaking structural inspections and surveys of existing buildings
- Producing clear technical reports and design documentation
- Coordinating design information with architects and other members of the project team
- Responding to site queries and providing technical support during construction
- Contributing to project meetings and site visits where required
- Supporting senior engineers with project delivery and design development
- Assisting with fee proposals or technical input for new project opportunities
Essential experience & key requirements:
- Experience designing building structures in steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber
- Understanding of UK building regulations and structural design standards
- Experience working on both new build and refurbishment projects
- Ability to produce structural calculations and communicate design intent through sketches or mark-ups
- Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage workload and work to project deadlines
Required skills:
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Approximately 2–6 years’ experience within a structural engineering consultancy
- Working towards Chartership with IStructE or ICE
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, collaborative and organised approach to project work
- Familiarity with structural design software and BIM tools such as Revit is beneficial
