Social Worker – Children Services Leaving Care Team
  • Welsh MOU rate
    • South Wales
    • 37 hours p/w
    • Minimum 30 week contract

About the role:
We are looking to recruit a committed, creative and resilient Social Worker to support our continuous improvement journey, towards best practice. This is evidenced within our recent positive Inspection.
We are seeking an individual who is committed to achieving change for children and young people. The local authority are utilising the latest evidence based, direct work to achieve positive outcomes for children affording them the opportunity to reach their full potential and be kept safe. 
Our client has protected caseloads, this offers the Social Care staff the opportunity to work closely with families and children to effect change. In addition, they offer flexible working and an excellent work life balance including remote working.

The Leaving Care Team work with care experienced children and young people aged between 15-25. The focus is to support with transition planning through to independence. You will be committed to corporate parenting, relationships-based practice as the driver of positive outcomes and transitions. Trauma informed approaches will be at the heart of your practice. We will also expect you to model best practice and mentor workers within the team. You will be joining an established, high performing team with excellent support:
  • A passionate and skilled workforce which is enabling care experienced young people to progress well and benefit from positive experiences
    • A focus on effective transition for young people between the ages of 15 and 18 with support to develop confidence and life skills to negotiate the opportunities and challenges of adulthood.
    • Ensuring accommodation needs are carefully considered so young people feel secure and their wishes around location are respected so they can maintain relationships with people who are important to them
    • Access to a number of in house step down provisions for our care leavers with the aim to develop more provisions 
    • There is a clear focus on education, employment and training designed to help young people of all abilities choose the appropriate route to make the most of their opportunities when they leave care

What you need:
  • A degree in Social Work or equivalent
    • Registered with Social Care Wales
    • Completed relevant post-qualifying training
    • Enhanced DBS check
    • Excellent communication and written skills
