A transport and highways consultancy, comprising 22 staff across two offices, is seeking a Senior Civil/Highways Engineer to join their transport planning team based in Fleet.


The workforce is evenly split between transport planners, engineers, and directors across both offices.


The company delivers a broad range of services and solutions to clients, including all aspects of transport planning, S278/S38 highway scheme design, drainage design, and environmental planning.


They undertake projects across both the private and public sectors — from commercial and residential developers to local authorities. Additional sectors include leisure, healthcare, and education, forming part of their diverse project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Highways Engineer:

• Deliver highway and drainage designs to agreed programme and budget.
• Ensure all designs incorporate the requirements of relevant authorities and statutory bodies.
• Prepare, review, and approve design information and reports, providing constructive feedback.
• Ensure designs comply with MCHW, DMRB, and/or local design guidance.

Essential Requirements:

• Demonstrable experience with Section 278 and Section 38 highway design schemes.
• Strong technical expertise across a range of highway design environments.
• Proven experience in managing highway projects, delivering them on time and within budget.
• Experience in mentoring and supervising junior highway design staff.
• Thorough working knowledge of DMRB technical documents.
• Proficiency in highway drainage design, including use of MicroDrainage software.
• Competency in using Civils 3D CAD software.
• Membership of a relevant Chartered Institution.
• Full UK driving licence.
