  Chemical laboratory technicians carry out chemical processes and conduct tests to analyse chemical substances for manufacturing or scientific purposes and support scientists. They work in laboratories or production facilities where they assist scientists in their work. Chemical laboratory technicians perform laboratory activities, test chemical substances, analyse data and report about their work. They observe and monitor laboratory activities, record test sequences and analyse the results.

  Tasks required include:

  • Sets up and assists with the construction and the development of scientific apparatus for experimental, demonstration or other purposes.
  • Prepares organic and inorganic material for examination and stains and fixes slides for microscope work.
