CNC Sliding Head Setter / Programmer
Location: Birmingham
Pay Rate: £16 – £18 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

A well-established and forward-thinking precision engineering business is currently seeking an experienced CNC Sliding Head Setter / Programmer to join their modern and growing manufacturing facility. You will be working on Fanuc control Star and Citizen sliding head lathes, producing high-quality precision components for the aerospace, defence, and other high-performance industries.

This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC sliding head machines, working from technical drawings, and using a range of gauging and inspection equipment to ensure components meet tight tolerances and strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programming, setting, and operating CNC sliding head lathes 

    • Working on Star and Citizen machines with Fanuc controls 

    • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings accurately 

    • Using inspection and gauging equipment to ensure precision and quality 

    • Producing components to tight tolerances in line with customer requirements 

    • Supporting continuous improvement within the machining department 

 

Required Experience:

 

  • Proven experience as a CNC Sliding Head Setter / Programmer 

    • Experience working on Star and/or Citizen sliding head lathes 

    • Strong understanding of Fanuc control systems 

    • Ability to program, set, and operate independently 

    • Confident working from engineering drawings and using inspection tools
